Replacement of Front Door window Channel Runners
Hey Guys!
I need to replace the front channel runners. Part number 68151c, 68141c respectively.I believe that it is one whole piece that surrounds the windows, which includes the bottom rubber/felt liners. Mine are damaged. Is this an easy fix? I can take the door panel off easily enough I'm sure to replace, but once this is done, does the window have to be removed? A body shop said that the window needs to come out to replace the runner . I called Sewell, and not to criticize their expertise, they said it does as well. Anyone ever replace the window runner themselves? I really find it hard to believe that it is such a complex job to simply replace what is basically a rubber gasket. I understand the window does not go ALL the way down, but can it be finagled? Or should I just bite the bullet and have Lexus do it. I can order the parts and then see if my service rep will take care of me for a little consideration.

I would leave it to the dealer. I hope you're not doing this because your service advisor said it would fix the window creaking. That noise seems to mainly be caused by the rubber seals around the door rather than the window or the channel runners.

By viewing the diagram you'll see its necessary to work the window run all the way to the bottom portion of the door to ensure the window is properly seated in the window run. Yes, you could finagle it a bit, but be careful if you don't get it right the first time it's possible you'll tear it. It's not a requirement to remove the window, but since you're removing the door panel anyway, it's only another few minutes to take out the window.
