I love the look of the 430, but the amenities of the 460. I think the 430 has a more classy look to it.

Today's trendy, wavy styling has to eventually give way to something else. Even though the 430 copied the S Class MB, I think it will always have appeal. The current 460 might not. With today's models, you almost have to get close enough to read the badges to tell a Lexus from a Kia or a Buick.

Drove a 2011 LS460 today with sports package - Brembo brakes, two tone leather interior with matte wood finish, sports air suspension. It was very cool car - had 14k miles on it and they wanted $55k. Seats slightly more comfortable than my LS430. Getting back in my LS430, the 430 felt much more open in the cabin and ride was just as smooth, view outside way better...but more floaty than sports mode in the 460 and certainly not as fast. The 2011 LS460 with sports package was definitely a fun car though - tempting but the $55K price is too rich for my blood - I have owned houses less expensive than that.

If your going to go with the LS 460, wait until the new Gen LS to come out, then I think the LS 460 prices will drop a lot. Go test drive the LS460 and decide yourself.
By the way, how did the dealer managed to screw your engine up?

My check engine light was on so I took it to my local Toyota dealer (Lexus is 30 miles away) and they said it was an oxygen sensor. As they were working on it they called and suggested a timing belt change (it was a 2004 with 75k miles) for $500 since they were already in the car. I said ok. They did not call back for a day or so and I kept calling to get a status and they finally admitted they put the timing belt on wrong and took it for test drive and blew the engine. They wanted to put a replacement used engine in the car but I told them no they had to buy the car from me.

Default Ls3430 all the way

I own both and have to say I prefer the LS430. While the LS460 has a modern look, yields more HP and fuel efficiency, it has poor FOV and is very noisy. After graduating to Lexus LS 430 from a Toyota Camry, I should have purchased two. Thinking the LS460 would be better, I purchased one in 2010. Separating the front grill from the hood was smart. Eliminating the problematic ML stereo was also an improvement. Brought it into Lexus numerous times to eliminate the engine noise which sounds like a diesel engine. Lexus said the noise is associated with the torque required to achieve the HP and fuel economy. Had I known the LS460 sounded like a diesel, I wouldn't have purchased it. Do yourself a big favor and buy an LS430. Alternatively, if you wait another year or so, Lexus should be coming out with an LS 490 which should address the many issues of the LS460. Good luck.

Default LS430 Anyday

Seems like the majority of people prefer the LS 430 over the 460. Having owned both, I couldn't agree more. Hopefully Lexus will go back to basics in creating the LS490 by eliminate the numerous TSRs of the 460, and improve upon the 430 platform.

Default LS460 Loud & Clear

I believe Lexus employees read these post and would imagine they have received the message loud & clear. The LS460 doesn't compare to the LS430, and they better make sure the LS490 is an improved flagship model like the LS430 or they wil certainly lose market share.

490?????? lol I am guessing 5.0 since it is in the 600 or they might just throw the 5.7. either way it will be awhile til I get another lex, well at least 2 to 3 years from now.

Wish I could have purchased a 2006 LS430L Ultra.
I too run a car service fleet with SUV's Stretch limos, Town Cars, customized Sprinters & Ford E-series vans + the LS430
The LS430 has been a great car to own & operate. Almost 300,000 miles on it, and I show unexpected/out of pocket expenses of less than $3000 (2 air struts replaced, everything else is normal maintenance)
Fantastic car, but catches me out sometimes in the luggage capacity. I have to be very strategic with who I send the LS to.
I've wanted to go with an LS460L for a few years now, still can't decide to purchase or not.

185k on my 04 ls now. I really appreciate it for not how it handles like a sports car but how it handles at like 40 mph and below which is pretty darn good using the Tiptronic and just cruising at moderate speeds. At hwy speeds she kinda drives itself and is so smooth, quiet, predictable and so damn reliable. Really how much spirited high speed driving can you do with just the nature of US roads and traffic anyway.

I agree I also like a auto I can spread out in for longer rides and not feel cramped and tired. The 460 I sat in while a nice cockpit had less shoulder/leg room and the center console was pretty high, never drove one.

Buying an '08 LS 460 out of Atlanta area for $32K. Mint condition with 35K miles. Is this a good deal?

I'd say $30,000 wouuld be a good price to me. Is it the standard wheel base or the long one?

If the car is indeed in "excellent condition", it should be a great deal with such low mileage.
Only a car straight from the factory with 0 miles is in "mint condition".
No way can a 5 year old car be "mint", unless maybe if it's mint green in color.
