Thanks Damon! Well, 3.5K is better than 5K... but wasn't the whole option about 3K to get on an 05? I can't believe that the sensor is more than 400.00. You can buy a hell of a computer for 3K.

So bad.

Just so you Know. I'm a Diagostic Specialist for Lexus..And I have never replaced that part...There is a bullentin to replace the ecu....But there is also a special repair procedure some of us follow that fixes the problem. It's not easy and in the rare times you might have to replace the millimeter wave sensor...but...I believe if the tech folllows the procedure with the techstream, you can just relearn, and not replace the sensor

Welcome and thank you for sharing your knowledge, Postie420.

Maybe you can help with a problem I'm having. I'm having trouble turning off my LS430. Every time I drive the car, when I arrive at my destination, I have trouble convincing myself to turn off the car and get out. I'm going to try leaving my wallet in my back pocket so I'm not so comfortable and might find the drive less enjoyable. However, other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, Postie! I needed to hear that. The fact that the sensor was working fine then it got tripped in Snow was fishy. I really have a hard time thinking the whole sensor needed to be replaced, as opposed to 'reset' or 'relearned'. Can you e-mail me any more info about this procedure? Any help will be much appreciated to end this month long nightmare.

The procedure that I recall requires the Lexus hand-held tester tool to recalibrate the system. Without that tool, I don't think you can do anything. There are screws on the top left and bottom right of the radar module to adjust aim. There was also something about a special service tool that goes up to a certain height and you need to hang a piece of string off of it to measure out angles or something..

Default Alternative to radar cruise

Turn off the cruise and turn it back on and it should work. when it rains or snows the sensors get screwed up. Use the regular cruise instead of the radar cruise. To use regular cruise, turn on cruise and push the cruise lever forward for about 5 seconds and it will operate as a regular cruise does.

I appreciate the help, seltzer. That was one fo the first things I did, and unfortunately it didn't help in this case. Now Lexus thinks it's the ECU, and that's on order. I should know more in a week or so!

Hi Damon and Lexus Owners,

I have a 2005 LS430 that I purchased pre-owned in June 6, 2008 with 32,120 miles. It was in like new condition and had all the bells and whistles. Nice riding car.

On February 16, 2010 we received our first "Check PCS System" warning light at 37,185 miles on odometer.

Lexus Dealer wrote up that they; "Found MIL Code P1572 - Improper Aiming of Laser Sensor. Found front radar cruise sensor has open circuit. Replaced Front radar cruise contrul sensor. Cleared code and test drove. No codes found." The price tage for all that was shown as $5047.39 and covered under wrranty.

On December 24/ 2010 we received our second "Check PCS System" warning light at 40,107 miles on odometer.

Lexus Dealer wrote: "Customer reports PCS warning light is on adv.....Front radar cruise control was replaced 2/9/10. Found code stored in computer PCS radar sensor failure. Replaced failed PCS radar sensor parts under warranty." They had the car for over 3 1/2 weeks for this fix. Fixed on warranty but no price listed this time.

On April 17, 2013 we received our third "Check PCS System" warning light at 51,862 on the odometer. (Warranty expired at 50,000)

I will be contacting Lexus and we will have a discussion about this. I find myself back into this forum to check others progress. The activity seems to have died down a bnch. I was curious if a large number of owners were experiencing this problem. It would seem that only a few have documented their experience here.

Please send file for the downlodable file for the Check PCS System:
