Modern wire style rims are way too busy looking on the LS for my own taste but - I can certainly appreciate that some folks like the look, different strokes for different folks - that's why they make more than just chocolate flavor ice cream : ) Life would be way boring if everyone has exact same taste in stuff - there are already too many LS 430s riding around. I liked it better in my RL when I rarely saw another one cruising around DFW area. Sadly DFW is full of LS430s - dime a dozen.

@ SOJAH - I figured that is what you were refering to, but IMO I think those type of rims would only look good as 20's on an LS. I think they look wierd any smaller than that.

Does anyone have input/experience with rollin 19's all year around in 4 season climate? I ask because I wonder how much better 18's handle than do 19's cause I know my 20's suck i up in winter. My research has shown that 245/40/19 only come in "ultra High Performance All Season" as opposed to 245/45/18 available as grand touring, high performance all season, and even some winter tires.

I wonder if 235/50/18 would be better? not much differnce in overall diameter (26.7is vs 27.3ish) inches. So throwing off the spedometer would be minimal.

I would think a 245 45 18 would be ideal but a 245/40/19 only come in "ultra High Performance All Season" would prolly be good too. in minessota though you may beed some legit snow tires like 225/65/16's or something. i was gonna try to make it the whole winter on my 19's this year but had to drop them off for some curb rash repair conveniently before about 30" of snow so yeah.

just curious, but how many days a winter do you actually (normally) drive on snow or in the snow? for me here in annapolis MD its like 4 and i can usually just take my wifes if its more than an inch or two. Secondly, when you do have to drive in or on the snow is it packed or what? if you get a lot of snow and you are driving in it a lot i would vote for a winter set of wheels/ tires and non winter nice set as well. seriously...

Another point is this: This car is my every day driver and I drive about 85 miles a day. With that kind of mileage going on my tires, its difficult for me to keep 20's on when hardly any tires in this size offer mileage warrantys and usually only last about 30k miles, where 18" rim/tire setup will last me a lot longer, offer waranty, and tires are cheaper

To date it has snowed at least an inch 5 times, but that is only part of the issue. Side streets are never clear of all the snow and ice. So I guess most of the time its packed snow, not fresh stuff. I pull up to stop signs and just slide right by. My wife has 08 Camry and it stops on a dime in this crap. I wish I could take her car on snow days, but she works too and I wouldn't let her drive my car in that stuff. Another concern is having my daughter in my car. I need her to be safe.

well i would again vote for 2 sets of wheels; a set of like 16 inch snow tire's and wheels, and a set of like 19" summer wheels and tires...

18 would be a good compromise for both if you just wanted one set and only one set for the entire year...

I think I am going 18" chrome oem rims....trying to find a cheap set now. Cheapest I found online is like $1508 shipped. looks like a lot of other people are looking for them too based on the WTB postings in the marketplace.

I second the motion for winter and summer wheels/tires. I've been doing this for a number of years. I usually use factory painted wheels for the winter tires and buy nicer wheels for summer. If the vehicle has factory chrome wheels, I'll use those for the summer tires and buy low cost silver painted wheels for the winter.

I put 18 x 8 chrome Antera 323 on my LS. Kept 18" 245/45/18 for tires. I like the look, ride quality was unchaged and there was a good deal on eBay (hub rings were a challenge though).
