Default replacing trunk struts

Bought mine on e-bay as well
I just replaced mine on 1999 SC400 and used the hyper-extending method also and they then fell right in place. Bought mine from partsgeek.com

When I replaced just one strut (they insist you replace them in pairs - I guess to load balance?) it was just perfect. When you placed pressure on the lid up or down it moved with the easiest touch.
When I replaced both it tended to spring up and require undue force to close it.
FWIW I think I paid $38 a pair on eBay.

Smile trunk strut replacement on 2007 GS 350.

My trunk was difficult to open and I check with my dealership and they were $270 for a pair. I went on eBay and bought them for $45. They fit to a T and they are working perfectly. Below is the eBayer that I bought them from.
