Default LS430 Altenator upgrade

Me and a friend of mines both have LS430's. he has an 05 and i have an 03... in both of our cars we are running some serious power for our systems... In both cars we have 2 solo baric L7's with a 2000w rms amplifier with all door speakers changed to 6" 250w audiopipe mid-range speakers also being powered by a 800w rms amplifier... we've been looking into an altenator upgrade for our cars because the altenator that our cars come with CANNOT supply the car with the current that it needs... I was thinking maybe the altenator from a LX470 should work being that both motors are basically the same.... what do you guys think???

Have you looked into stiffening capacitors? I had a 5 Farad one in my old Lexus GS300 and I was running 2 500x1 JL's and a 300x4. It did the trick.

Sorry to thread jack, but can I ask you how you did your wiring?

I had a 94 LS400 previously which was totaled, and I had an aftermarket setup. I'm in the market now for an 05 LS430, but I want to plan out the entire car before I purchase.

1) How did you run power wire to the trunk?

2)Did you have any complications with getting aftermarket speaker wire into the doors?

3)What is the depth in the door?

4) For those 6" speakers, did you create a wood baffle and mount it, or did you modify the existing baffle?

5) Any problems removing the door panel? The wood trim scares me a bit..

6) Any issues with grounding in the trunk? I had some noise issues on my first gen.

Though it seems counter-intuitive, capacitors will not help the problem here. Adding a capacitor just adds another load for the alternator to charge. If it can't keep up with the current load, it will have more problems by adding another device that needs to be charged.

A stronger alternator is the best way to go.. I would look at aftermarket rebuilt alternators.

Do the big 3 upgrade and add another battery. If that doesn't do the job, then yea, an upgraded alternator will be your next step.

If you can't find one that's made specifically for your LS, you can always have the stock one rewound to have more output.

Anyway, check with Excessive Amperage, Ohio Generators, Iraggi Alternators, Mean Green Alternators to see if they have anything for you.

Im running wayy power more than that, and dont have an alternator. Id say if you are worried about headlights dimming and what not. Upgrade your stock battery to an Optima Yellow top, and buy another one for the trunk. A capacitor is a total waste of money, unless you plan on having a custom trunk and want them strictly for astethic reasons.
