your not supposed to pop out the lenses. The Grey matt under trunk you are supposed to pop out the little black look alike screws (dont know what they are really called) Just pop them out and you will be able to reach your hand all the way back where the bulbs are located. when you reach the bulbs just turn them and pull out

Anyone replaced their standard bulb with a silverstar or similar style to get a "white" light like the new Lexus' LEDs?

I replaced mine with the v-leds led white light and for some reason it look white from one angle and kinda blueish green from another. I thought it was the bulb so i changed it out with another kind but still the same but it still looks better than the old bulbs

The lenses are probably slightly yellowish from age. led white is slightly blue as we all know. Blue and yellow make green.

to change the license plate bulbs you need to have a flathead and phillips screwdriver. first pry off all of the little black plastic screws holding the trunk cover on, there should be 4 or 5 of them total I think, including the ones under the cover for the inner tail lights, then use a phillips screwdriver and unscrew the two bolts holding the plastic "pull" handle in place. then you need to take the trunk light off by using a flathead screwdriver and sliding it under the plastic on the right side and pushing the metal piece holding the light in. once that is finished, use the flathead screwdriver to press the three plastic tabs holding the plastic outer rim of the trunk release handle, one on the left side, front, and right side, there is also another tab on the back but once you get the first three it should pop off. once the plastic rim is off, there is another bolt that you need to unscrew with a phillips screwdriver to get the whole trunk release handle off. with all of these things removed, you should now be able to see where the bulbs are located

BTW I changed mine out with super white LED's from ebay and they look gorgeous with my LED tails

Took about 15 minutes to change the bulbs. I did not remove the entire covering (did not want to pry on the trunk release for fear of breaking) but I was able to "squeeze" my hand in to change out the bulbs. They look great!!!!!
