Perhaps Infiniti over rated their motor? Or the gearing is better in the LS430.
Once you look at everything, it is easy to understand why the LS is quicker then the Q. Reality and what people put on paper is 2 different things.

Infiniti in general over rate their product, and Lexus under rate. Since Infiniti is always inferior, they need all the help they can get, so they lied

The LS is 200 lbs lighter then the Q.

The LS motor hit it's peak torque 600 rpm sooner then the Q motor.

Basically everything Lexus made is better then Infiniti, enough said.

You just have to drive them, the differences on how they feel is HUGE, especially after they aged. Infiniti don't age well at all, their much lower resale value reflect that.

The Q45 hp rating is just that a rating, it does not transfer to the ground well, plus the gearing doesnt help at all. I have driven the Q45 and Im not impressed..save yourself the *** kicking later and get the LS430, you wont regret it..besides i think the LS is much better looking has better aftermarket support and is just a better made car..The Q45 looks like an alligator to me!!

hmm that's weird. When I test drove it, the f50 q45 sure seemed faster off the line from a stand still

The Nissan President is the same type of cars as the LS430 UL and LS460L, but no Nissan is ever as nice as any similar class Lexus. BIG quality and design differences.

They are not even in the same class, with a huge price differences.

Nissan doesn't even try to compete, Lexus is in a whole higher league.

The Century is definitely in a league of it's own, much higher then any other Japanese brand.

I wonder how smooth that V12 is, I bet you is amazing

I saw one while I was in Japan, you can't even hear the motor running!
Didn't dare to go up and ask about the car, only few people are allowed to buy those, and who knows what kind of trouble I will be in.

well Yakuza don't ride in Century, only politician does.

I guess politician are even more dangerous then Yakuza, since the Yakuza are owned by politician

Even talking about it make me feel my life is in danger

I used to own a 94 Q45.
It was my first luxury car and WOW! It was pure pleasure to drive. I could invent a trip just to go for a ride in it. It was powerful, smooth, great interior and killer sound system. Actually, the bose sound system was better than any other stock system I've head in any other car to date and I've driven them all.
The ride was softer than the beemer, but firmer than LS. Just right IMHO.
Then the motor developed a shake... It had 8 coils @$300 each... Then front control arms had to be replaced and that just pushed my budget over the top and I sold it after a year for $200 more than I bought it.

In retrospect, I liked that car more than my current LS400. However, I am now in the market for an 05 LS. Infinity lost the war after 94 and LS just ran away with it. No comparrison now.

P.S. The key of the Q was the coolest I've seen to date.

I agreed, the 94' Q45 was a great car, my friend had one and your post brought back some fun nice memories.

I agreed the key was very cool, I prefer no key of today's car though

I forgot about this thread.

I ended up buying an 02 Q45 two weeks ago. The car is quick for a luxury sedan. Great price and I am definitely enjoying it. Mine is white on beige. Plenty of luxury features and a smooth ride.

I just couldn't justify the prices of 01-03 LS430s. I hope to one day get into an 04-06 LS when funds allow.

i know the usdm ls430 is 5 times better than the q45. but u can not stack it up against the nissan president.
The Nissan president is nothing but a long wheel base Q45 with a few extra amenities, it is still Nissan quality
