I'm told that the LS430 was available without the front console ashtray, and that a lined storage bin was available for that location. Does anyone have this non-smoker version ? I'd like to have a storage bin there instead of my ashtray, but can't locate any information on it. When I check Lexus online parts lists (Sewell Lexus, etc.) they list the ashtray itself, but not any other option for that location.

Has anyone seen this bin available anywhere or made this change ? Thanks.

I think I found my answer in an old thread. Looks like part is expensive, and probably not worth changing.

I tried to pursue the same thing, without luck. Various parts sources I tried couldn't find the storage bin, although the optional ash tray / lighter was still available through Lexus accessories. Best wishes, it would be a nice idea, but not worth a lot of money to me.

I ordered the storage box from Sewell Lexus and installed it myself in my 2006 LS430. The storage box includes the lid, so you need to make sure the storage box is the same wood trim as the car.

Installation was not too difficult. If I used a pair of mercedes dash hooks that I purchased off of eBay to pull the trim panels out. First I removed the trim panel that has the controls for the heated seats. Then, I unscrewed the shifter **** and pulled the console trim piece to remove the ash tray and install the storage box. I didn't take me over 15 minutes to swap if out.

The storage box is felt lined and has a 12 volt outlet.

I felt the same way - a lot of money for a small box - but once you spend the money and use it every day you realize it was a good investment.

Cell phone, tickets, charger cables, headsets - it's all good.

The 12v charger isn't that useful since the plug sits so high.

Thanks for the update, I hadn't tried Sewell!! I'll be watching if anyone decides to explore a group buy, not sure I'm willing to spring for $180, but thinking about it.

Does the storage box come with the wood cover/door as well, or is that part of the console trim?

The wood door on my ashtray has a few scratches on it. I have wanted to replace it but cannot justify buying another ashtray as I am not a smoker. If the wood door is included with the storage box it would be worth buying since the storage box would be more practical.

I changed out mine last year - Sewell asked for my vin to make sure the wood trim that comes with it matched what was in my 430.
