In the 01 Ultra, is this plastic or wood, looks like plastic. I've never seen gray wood.

It is real wood veneer. Wood do come in a wide range of natural colors including grey (some can be greenish or even purple, etc,), & many of the brownish color you see on furnitures, etc., may not be their natural color anyway, some are just stained to look that way.
