Well I am considering buying an 04 Ultra or regular 05 and have an passenger Airbag question.

In the 06 loaner cars I have had, they have Smart Airbags in wich they do not turn on unless the it senses a weight of over 80lbs or so in the passenger seat. My 5 yr old loves sitting in the front with me when I have a loaner and its safe because it clearly says Passenger Airbag OFF when she is seated in her carseat and buckeled in. If an adult sits there and clips his seatbelt it says Passenger Airbag ON.

So my question for you LS430 owners of 04 or 05's, how does your front passenger Airbag fuction? If you were to just clip the front passenger seat does the airbag light say anything? I did this in the GS330 and it imidiatly said Airbag OFF, I reached over put some weight on the seat and then the Airbag ON light came on (if I rememebr correctly, it was aloaner some time ago).

Anyways please let me know. I went test driving an 04 Ultra tonight and yesturday and totaly forgot to check this out?

There is no Passenger Air Bag On/Off warning light in either the 04 or 05 LS430, ultra or otherwise.

Regardless, some states prohibit kids younger than 12 riding in the front seat. You may have to check that out too.

Yeah I checked Florida laws. All the require is that 5 and over be in a booster seat. They do not say its illegal to put a 5yr old in the front. They highly reccomend to put kids under 12 in the rear, but thats it.

I guess you know this by testing it? Have you ever buckeld the seatbeat with no one in the seat? Hmm ok if so, then I am were I started. I was hoping it would have some warning light or something.

Nope, no warning light. I could buckle up the belt without anybody in the seat, but I would have no way of checking whether the airbag is disabled or not in that situation.

I checked it in my 04 UL with the passenger belt fastened with no one in it and like he says, there is no on/off light.
