I bought the 4 ohm subwoofer.

Hey babyGS3 I bought my LS like a month ago.

Update for you,
HID's are in my fog lights..

On the way:
Euro tail lights...
Onyx emblems
20" black rims with chrome lip (haven't decided on which one's yet)
Air ride controller
Black out the headlights (The way the GS guys did it)
and I'm also looking to get that Mercedes style grill in black chrome.
2 TV's in the headrests and a playstation 2 or 3 in one of my glove boxes (LOL...I love that I have more than 1)

No I don't believe JL has a free air sub in 8" size I think this is a sub for a sealed box.

I also need to change my subwoofer, But they told me I need a free aair in order for it to sound good. Do you think I can up grade it to a 10" JL audio w6 or w7?

Thanks for the help so far.

Where is the amp located on the 2001 LS 430 Ultra? they the info on the new ones ,but I cant seem to find the specs for the old one 2001. No any web sites on the nav set for the 2001 mark lev?

Neither W6 or W7 will work that great in an infinite baffle setup. Hardly any JL Audio subwoofers nowadays will work in IB.

If you want IB, look at the Image Dynamics IDv3 subwoofer. They are very comparable to the JL Audio W3v2 and they aren't badly priced either. Otherwise, go with a boxed setup.

If you have an Ultra then NO (You've got the rear cabin filter and cooler back there)...if you have a regular LS then probably a 10" with no major construction, but a 10" or 12" will not fit with the original subwoofer surround, that is made for an 8". Which mind you comes cleanly off the old sub for ease of installation for a new sub. I know that my JL sub sounds as good as, if not better than the stock ML sub for a fraction of the cost ($85 and I installed it myself)

When I called the dealer and found out that the sub was $250 I had to find an alternative and not because I don't have the money but because I know when I'm being jerked around.

Default Not worth it!

Greetings,
I just bought the same subwoofer this weekend and installed it into my 2001 LS Ultra. Honestly, the speaker doesn't sound any better than the stock Mark Levinson model. Yes, the magnet is larger then the stock model, but the "punchy" sound of the speaker is the same. I was hoping for a deeper more solid hitting sound, but I guess the only way to get that is to add another amp, crossover, and larger sub.

If your system has a working 8" sub, don't waste your time and money on a replacement 8" sub.

Anyone want to buy my ML stock sub?

Can you confirm that there are not other speakers on the rear deck that sit under those two grills?

Thanks
