Default 18" wheels sure slow the car down

I have a 2002 LS430 and it came with the 16" wheels. I put the factory 18" wheels on and the extra weight slows the car down noticibly, and the braking is also degraded. They look great, though, and handling is definitely improved. They're chrome, and the car is pearlescent white with tinted windows. Had them for a month or two now and it took a week before I got used to the slowness and don't notice it any more. Ride is also not as nice, but still great compared to most other cars.

Did you get the chrome knockoffs on Ebay or are they authentic? You should see the Toyota stamping on the inside of the rim. Knockoffs are considerably hearvier. My polished 18's are very light about the same weight as the 17's. Do you have tire size 245/45/18 on? I went with 235/50/18. It is more comfortable. Slightly narrower (1/4 of an inch) but has a thicker/taller side wall that fills in the wheel well gaps without any scraping.

Also the 18" wear out the tires sooner, so we're all watching out for that.

Some additional weights:

The stock 16's on mine weighed in at 21#'s, with Michelin MX4V tire, it was 48#'s.
Stock 17's from a GS thread a bit back I recall at 23-24#'s.
The LSportline M4 are 26#'s and with BFG KDW-2 tire 52#'s.

18's I've come across typically range from 22-36 pounds, the lighter the more $$$.
