Push the sunshade button on the lower left side of the center console, behind the gearshift.

Do these work for all years (unless otherwise noted of coarse)? Would like to try some out but not sure if the ones I want would work with my 01.

#20 is a pain in the A.. It happened to me once already and I thought I had a bad brake sensor. Now I know what it was all about. Even the dealer never explained that one to me. Nice going.

It is that button that open the trunk on the trunk lid, not exactly hidden, most new cars has that button now.

If you put both hands under the center of the ledge below the Lexus logo on the trunk lid:

- Center: backup camera
- Slide both hands outward: rectangular license plate lamps
- Slide both hands further outward, beyond the width of a U.S. license plate: key hole on left side and rubber covered trunk button on right side.

Not sure if the trunk release button is even on the 01-03 models.

Default Rear Shunshade in LS-430

Thanks Caddyowner............what I "Really" want is for the shade to stay up, even when I put it in reverse. I can see very well in the daylight, between my rear view mirror and my backup camera in my Navigation, so I would rather it stay up while in reverse, and then not have to go back down when I put it in drive. Just more wear and tear on the motor and hinges. I can disable it to stay down by flipping that switch, but I Do like to keep it up to protect the leather from harsh sunrays.

Any ideas anybody ?

Does anyone know if the 01-03 models have the trunk release button?

On my LS trunk release button is on the edge of the trunk on upper right side of the license plate - next to the license plates lights (I use it all the time)...
It has rubber covering so it is rain/moisture protected...

I thought that is on all LS cars :S

I found that black cover next to the right side of the license plate and tried pushing it up and squeezing it in, but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? I also see a key cylinder to the left of the license plate on the upper left side. Is that some kind of valet lock?

That rubbery thing on the right (by the license plate lights) opens the trunk if you have smartkey. Judging from your sig, you have an 01 so no smart key. Idk what it does if the car doesn't come with smartkey.

You have to have the "Smart Key" (FOB) close to the car to open the trunk. I have an 05 and I love that feature. Also, if you just pull the trunk lid down to "almost" closed, it has an electric pull down........took me a while to figure that out.

I have an 01 so I guess I can't use that trunk opener. What is that key cylinder I see to the upper left of the rear license plate?

Your non-valet key should open the trunk with that lock.
