Can interior wood be retrofitted?
I'll be giving my trusty 90 LS 400 to my teenage son in the next 6 mo(lucky kid to have a Lexus for a 1st car).
I am looking for a replacement for myself(wifey can stick to her 93). I saw a 2000 "platnium" black on black that looked stunning with the black interior and the lighter birdseye wood. There is not much else that I really need in the platnium pkg other than this interior look.
Question, if I bought say a black on black 95-99 can I have the wood changed out for the birdseye? I realize this wood mean the steering wheel too, but I can get a 96 for a lot less $ than a 2000 Platnium. Have plenty of extra money for nice wheels too.
Bottom line is I really like the birdseye wood in black interior.

I haven't dealt with them, but this may solve your problem.

D.K.,
I, too, love the look of birds' eye maple in a black interior. I had considered doing this mod in my '96 ES (which has a black interior). I searched every wood kit site I could find. aaaexoticwood.com offers birds' eye maple, but only in synthetic. I have a feeling it's going to take a couple of years for the aftermarket industry to realize that birds' eye maple is the new wood of choice for luxury interiors. You could probably get the wood pieces from Lexus, but they would cost you an arm and a leg.
