Default OK, I Moved The Metal

....and finalized the purchase of a "left over" 2003 LS430 "base car"...no NAV (I have a GARMIN portable), No Mark Levinson and no Ultra luxury. Not that the base car is not luxury...it certainly is, as you know.

I got about 5 grand off the sticker and a few other minor dealer throw ins...including top dollar for my '02 ES300. I love this car. I had a 1990 LS400 and a '92 LS400 then got sidetracked with Mercedes. In the end, I realized that Lexus were the best cars I ever owned. My short experience with the ES300 reaffirmed that but just whetted my appetite for "the real Lexus" as my brother calls it. Had I gone for the '04, it would have taken a while, I'd have paid full sticker (or close) and my trade would have been worth much less. Frankly, they had the exact car with the exact colors and options just sitting right there, calling my name. So I went for it.

Interestingly, my insurance only rose $122/yr from the ES to the LS. They said that because it's safer, the increase is minimal, even though the car itself would cost a lot more to replace.

I plan to keep this car a while. The biggest fool thing I ever did with cars....besides buying a VW New Beetle that was cute for 2 weeks....was move away from Lexus in the first place. I'm really back now.

"left Over, Base Care" Please come on, you just bought the abslout best Luxery car sold. I would give my Big toe maby even both of them to be able to buy a 03 LS430. My 98 LS400 will have to do me for many more years.

Anyways I understand what you mean the 04 does sound really cool, but you made a smart decition with the trade in value and all the free bees and discounts.

Drive your car proudly and enjoy the hell out of it.

Thank you very much! I did not mean to demean my own car by saying "left over, base car". I was just trying to accurately describe what I bought...meaning it is not a 2004 and doesn't have the NAV/Mark. I don't know why I ever got away from these cars. Hey, your '98 is a sweet ride too. Happy motoring!

Congrats!!!! I just bought a 2002 LS430 w/ Nav and Lev for $42,000.00. The gentleman who owned it was 79 years old and it only has 5,000 miles on it. You'll love the car. Now all you need are some rims and coilovers. I just got my Tein CS's and now I'm waiting on my 20in. Zauber Gettins. I can't wait.
