Default Air Suspension wiring/how it works HELP

Have been going through board and can't find info. DO we have a Lexus mechanic out there?

Have 1 air strut down (front passenger), was told I have a crack in the controller (mechanic said that would fix my problem- didn't need to replace entire system as service manager recommended).

If So does anybody have a diagram that shows routing/wiring?

Need help ASAP

Default Does anybody have a Chilton that can help?

1990 LS400

Ok i'm not about to try to rebuild a engine, but I think I can fix this problem or at least figure outs whats really broken, but I don't have access to a Chilton or Bently repair book and could really use some help. My condo wants the car off the parking lot this coming Monday morning or they will tow it off.

Does anybody out there have a link or diagram of how the Air Suspension works under the hood?
Ie.. what type of electrical reading should I be looking for at the wires at the top of the strut, where is the compressor located, if one side is up and they share the same compressor where would you start your diagonosis, Can I even take the black cover off the top of the strut or will the strut come blowing out of the housing and kill everyboby in a 5 mile radius.

I'd like to even know the proper name of the parts so I don't feel like such a dummy

Any help is greatly appreciated

Sherwood,

You should be able to hear where the air is leaking. Raise the suspension up and then shut off the motor in a quiet garage and listen carefully. It might take a freind with good hearing but the air has to be leaking somewhee and it will make a noise.

Mine has not yet leaked but I checked out this site carefully for air suspension problems before buying the car. Everyone that tracked down the leak reported that a strut was leaking at the top of the tower. Of course, most of them simply had the struts replaced for big$$$

There were a couple postings that said you can remove that plastic tower cover, reseal the strut top with a tire patch & rubber cement, and replace the plastic cover. Sounds like a 50 cent repair well worth trying if the leak is at the tower.
