Default I Just Love My LEXUS!

Well,

Lexus has pulled through again. Maybe by default, but none the less. A great car and a great company. My dealer is Hendricks Lexus in Charlotte, NC and I couldn't be a more satisified customer.

I had a check engine light, 420 and 430 error codes. Several sources said, "Change the O2 sensors". I did it myself but that didn't fix the problem. I took my LS 400 in today to find out the real problem, suspecting it to be the catylic converters....I got a call around noon. Bad news, both converters are degrading. The car will pass emissions test, but I can't get a sticker with a check engine light.

So, I'm ready for a couple of thousand dollar estimate to the converters replaced and the service tech says, "It's covered under warranty"....

I was estatic. I felt great. I love LEXUS!

My car has 78,000 miles.

Cool, glad to hear it!

Hendrick has been great for me as well. Very satisfied.

You ever going to come to one of our meets ? Got one coming up, but it's a bit of a drive www.lexusdragon.com

As much as I love my Lexus too, the reason the convertors got replaced may be due to the emissions systems warranty which all manufacturers have to abide by. Regardless of their "bumper to bumper" or "powertrain" warrantys, the emissions systems warranty is federally mandated in the US and Canada. Perhaps thats why you are getting the new convertors. When people don't know about this, sometimes the dealers charge the customer when they shouldn't.

Well,

I got my beast back today. They showed me the "Internal" invoice. $2,076.00

Thats a chunk of change.

I haven't forgotten about the local LEXUS meetings. I stay pretty busy and don't have much time. I've been trying to install another Jacobs ignition system in the car since March....

I hope tomorrow. Now that I have the car back. It also needs a good interior cleaning.....then the lawn needs mowing, landscape around the trees......

I'll make it some day.

Keep me informed.

Thanks!

Yes, I think they're a great car company too. My LS400 was a couple months out of warranty and the power tilt steering went out. They replaced it--no charge!

Good news as that's where I too will service mine. I'm really curious how/why that was covered. What year is your car, additude?

It's a 97 with 78,000 miles. The converters were covered up to 80,000.

I just love it when that happens.

I hope that isn't a common problem as I just bought my 97 with 89,000 miles.

Edit* Just called Hendrick, not a common problem.
