Default HELP- Hesitation at takeoff

I have a 98 LS400 (118,000 miles) with a hesitation problem when accellerating from a stop or when going around a corner and accelerating. I brought it to the dealer and they said that model had a defective ECM (computer) which would cost $1,800 to replace. If it was still in warrantee it would of course be free. I contacted Lexus and they only offered me the part at cost $1,700 Whoopee!!! Is anyone familiar with this problem and is there a cheaper fix.

THanks

I'm suprised your car has not already had that done (WL1 campaign). Disconnect your negative battery cable for about 15-20mins and reconnect. This clears the computers learned values and should be ok for several months. When you start feeling the hesitation just repeat. Thats cheap! (and effective)
