Default anyone have a pic of P/s pump?

I'm thinking my P/S pump might be leaking if it's the part thats conencted to the rack and pinion on the driver side.

If not t han it' the rack and pinion...I think that's a $500 repair job.

I replaced my PS pump last Janurary. Bought a used pump on ebay for $125 and had lexus install it for about 2.5 hrs labour. I still have the old pump around somewhere. If I can find it i'll take a pic for you tonight. If it is the pump make sure it gets fixed as I believe they leak right onto the alternator. I've heard a few stories of people have to replace both the PS pump and Alternator at the same time.

Default P>S> pump leaking

Make sure that it is really the pump that is leaking.
More often than not, it is one of the two P.S. hoses that is actually leaking. It is usually the High Pressure hose that sends fluid from the pump to the R&P.

Thanks for the inut -

I really need to see the picture to tell what part is leaking.

if you are under the car it's on the left side to the left of the cat. It's connected to the rack and pinion and has two hoses/steel hoses or something where fluid is leaking. It's vertically angled up towards the steering columnl ..I think..

I think I have the same problem on mine, fluid leaking on the driver's side under the car. The PS pump is located in the engine area. I have a feeling it's one of the hoses that is leaking as Rice said and not the pump itself because the pump looks fine. Does it make lot's of noise when you turn the steering wheel? Anyway I'm taking my car in as soon as I get a shipment parts so I'll get this fixed as well.

Default Go to eBay for images

Hi:

If you want to see what the PS pump looks like, go to eBay, where several of these are listed fro sale.
I seach eBay using this search criteria:

http://cq-search.ebay.com/search/sea...d&BasicSearch=

Last time I looked there were several PS pumps for sale, new and reconditioned.

My PS pump leaked, and I installed a low mileage used unit for cheap, and it works fine.

Bill

I just posted these pictures this morning. Finally replaced my old pump with a new one. Thought somebody might want to buy the old one and use the rebuild kit to fix it up. That way they could leave their current one in the car until ready to be switched.

Good luck with yours.
