Default air cond conversion.

come on folks, I need some help. 25 people looked at my former plea for help and no one answered. I have a 92. ls400. Last year for freon. What parts do I need to buy to convert to the newer stuff. Thanks in advance. Michael..

I had a bad evaporator in my 90 LS400 so i decided to do the conversion since i had to replace it (along with a new expansion valve that was recommended that i replace while in there) also a new drier/receiver which should be installed when the a/c system is opened and finally new o rings. My shop said same price for conversion or leave it R-12.All the parts were there. If you don't want to replace any parts (your R-12 system is fine-o rings are a must i'm told,as the R-134 works at higher pressure than R-12 (also only used 2 lbs freon vs 2.3 lbs or so) HTH!

Bradster, thanks for the reply. How much trouble was it to change the evaporator and the expansion valve.

More trouble than i could deal with as i'm not really DIY type guy.A local shop charged me 275.00 for labor and i supplied the parts. The local Toyota dealer wanted about 100.00 more for labor only.Others maybe able to tell you how big a job it is.I was glad to fork over the 275.00 to have it done.
