Default computer reset?

I have a '95 LS. My engine light came on right after I had a major tune-up at Lexus. I took it back and they said it was one of my catalytic converters. They re-set the computer and told me to really blow it out on the freeway and that might blow it out. I did and so far everything is fine which is good because they said the replacement is about $1500.00.

In case it happens again, can anyone tell me how I can re-set the computer myself ?

From DevilDog, maintenance forum moderator

When the check engine light comes one, clear it by removing the "engine" fuse.

Simply remove the fuse cover in the engine compartment. Large cover by the battery. The under side of the cover shows what fuse is where.

Hi Devildog,

Thanks for your help, I didn't think it would be that easy.

Usually the check engine light comes on when an emissions sensor goes bad. They need to do an engine computer diagnosis to pinpoint the real problem. Pulling and replacing the fuse is fine to turn off the light, but after 30-50 miles the light will come back on if the problem isn't rectified. I know this from experience with my former GS4.
