Default So is it worth it?

Been looking for a nice LS400. Found a mint 2000 with 31k original miles but he won't budge from 13k. Seems like alot for such a old car, however these are getting harder to find in this condition. I offered $11,5 but he refused. Now going by KBB, high private party value is 8,100 but I know sometimes you can't go by the book. Thoughts?

I would pass. I know it would be great to say " I got a really low mileage LS" but trust me lots of things need to ne changed once you buy it that will send that number way north.

Thanks for the reply, kind of the way I was thinking. People think they have a classic and there are no more out there.

I'd say at 31K its a pretty new car. If it was what I was looking for, correct color, and all options except phone, and not a flaw anywhere I'd go for it. Just not the year I want.

I'd say at 31K its a pretty neglected car (15 years old) that needs ALL the fluids changed, plus timing belt and water pump and run hard at about 100mph for a while to settled it down ..... no way it is worth 13$.. let some other sucker go for it (but I will be surprised if it sells at HIS price..)
wiper blades
brakes?
air filter, cabin filter -original?
tires?

To be honest I would not even pay 11.5 I know the LS is practically bullet proof when properly maintained but I would take that money and get something a little newer. Or find one with more miles and service records and has been driven. The price would be cheaper and you would have a couple extra K left over. Just my opinion though. I've been driving an LS for the past 20 years if that matters.

+1 to the above. They are tempting though considering you'll do another $1,200 some odd in maintenance, you are into it at '04+ LS430 levels.
