So yesterday I became an owner of a 98 Lexus LS400. I bought it from an older guy who had owned it since 2001, but the car came with some extras and needs some work. And by extras, I mean a few CEL codes.
I'm getting the following: P1349, P0300, P0156, P1346 and I also have the VSC/OFF warning on.
After doing some research, everything seems to point to the OCV - so I figure that's a good starting point. I want to note, however, that the car runs and idles very smooth - despite all these error codes - so I assume they're not as severe as some people have experienced.
As a VW owner I've got plenty of experience working under the hood so I'll tackle this and see what comes out of it. The CEL codes seem to indicate the OCV in Bank 1 is bad. I assume Bank 1 means left hand side (driver's side)?
Doing further research, I found the following part number: 15340-50011
Can someone confirm this is the correct part number for the left hand side OCV? Also, what are some good places to get this part from (other than the dealer)?
Bonus question: looking into what kind of suspension these cars came with, it looks like some of them had adjustable/air suspension? Was this only on certain years?

I didnt replace mine, I just took it out and cleaned it real good and the chamber also and put it back in and it has continued working for over 3 years....

Hm, I'll have to try this...since removal doesn't seem to be all that complicated. If it doesn't fix the issue then I'll just order new one. What did you clean it with?

Finally had a chance to take the wheel off and take a look...it definitely looks like standard coil and shock suspension.
While trying to get the rest of the wheels, I found out that two of them are using the security lugs and I don't have the key does anyone know whether Lexus used the same key on all cars or they have different variations? I assume dealership should be able to remove these?
I just had a similar problem on my 98... locking lugs were stripped out. Fortunately Sears is still around and sells a Craftsman tool designed to solve this problem. Sockets with grooves that cut into the offending lug nut and remove it...either standard lug nut or locking nut.

But mine had a cloth case and 4 sockets and was about 1/2 that price.

You're a life saver...I completely forgot about these. I was about to go all McGuyver over this and hammer on an old socket

carburetor cleaner and a small rag clipped in a pair of mechanical fingers..
Definitely going to try this. Did you also clean the valve/solenoid or just the filter?
no the filter/screen is in a different location, I just cleaned the VALVE to where it had the original snapping action, VERY good and the chamber it slid into.. also cleaned it til it came out without any black...
