Which is preferable setup - H&R + Bilstein HD or H&R + KYB?

So how many are using H&R and KYB for more than a year without any issues? Wondering if KYB would be too soft leading to the car bottoming out on stiffer springs.

the "softness" of a shock relates to damping. the spring determines spring rate (and consequently, motion ratio) more than the damping does.
TL;DR the spring being hard or stiff determines if the shock is going to compress too far and bottom out more than the damping does.

so the H&R's arrived today
in the box was an orange technical information booklet with all the usual various safety warnings and so on... inside it also says that the factory "bumpstops" on the LS need to be trimmed 0.25 inches from the top in the front (nothing needs to be done to the rears)
is this really necessary because i've never seen a mention of this

all 4 are oems from lexus sources (so KYB i guess) all with <20000 miles so still relatively new. i'm hoping to not have to get new shocks for some time but when i do imma get the kayaba's. i'm putting my confidence in PureDrifter and sha4000 who say that the oems will be ok. i mean a 1" drop is basically just like having a bunch of stuff always in the car, they're not being pushed past their intended operating conditions so i don't see why it'd make THAT much of a difference

does anyone know about having to trim the front bumpstops though? any advice would be appreciated

Awesome. Waiting for you to install and give us a review, so we can jump on the bandwagon too

is this the first you've heard of this? my mechanic (trust me he's good) says he wouldn't really bother with that unless it's like at least 0.75 inches or more, and i honestly can't really see 0.25 inches being a big deal...
have you trimmed yours?

.25 inches is minimal loss and trimming bumpstops takes so little time that I wouldn't hesitate if that's what H&R says to do.
I'm running coilovers now. I did have some bumpstop issues many moons ago when running the old LSportline setup (aka custom valved bilsteins + eibach).

absolutely! my mechanic's gonna be away for a bit tho so it'll be like 2-3 weeks before they're on. one of my 16 year old outer tie rods went bad i think, steering wheel is vibrating and so is the rest of the car (wheels are balanced it isn't that) so i wanna get that sorted out first and then it's time for springs

Sorry, I know I have asked my fair number of questions in this area, but want to make sure I dont sacrifice too much ride quality from the LS. I am looking for a mild drop with smooth handling and tighter steering responses around curves. This car is a DD for me, so not looking for sports car handling. Thanks.
18" wheels and 245/45/18 tires are also planned for this setup. FYI.
