Talking hey all just saved my 400ls from being scraped but...

have some questions. there is what looks like some kinda of hose in the truck that goes into a little reserve looking thingy. anyone know what it is? its right under the power antenna witch that thing does not work right lol. i had to replace all lights outside and inside needs 3 speakers and i had to put new brakes on the back and front in the next week or so. they also tore out the passenger side dash so is there something i can make to cover that being thats were the brains of the car seems to be? also the steering tilt moter is getting stuck any tricks to fix it? the reason the car was off to the scrap yard is it got hit on the back passenger side door left a dent in the area around the door. they replaced the door so its drive able, the trac shuts off so still trying to fixed that to. the cluster panel is pretty much shot but got it to show how fast your going lol the od flashes every once in a while but i think its the speed sensor. this is the 1st car like this i have ever had i am used to a chevy truck lol. but i only paid 900.00 for it . i would drive by that car everyday seemed to be calling for me to save it lol.. so i did! so anything anyone knows about this car would be helpful!

Congrats on the save, but does seem you've got some work ahead of you. Many of the things you mentioned you'll find here in the forum. The search feature is your friend.

Nice looking car definitely doesn't look like it belongs in a scrap yard for sure. As the other guys stated you will find how to fix everything on your car on here. Spend some time searching the threads, it would be very difficult to find a more knowledgeable and helpfull bunch of guys than on CL.
Good luck with your new ride!

It sounds fine really, the Dash just get another from the scrap yard and replace it, its a long job, but not so bad really, just screws and clips, maybe a nice black fabric to cover it for now?

The Dash failing is usually a bad capacitor or resistor, I forget which one, I had the same problem on my 93, you take the dash out, resolder in a new capacitor and it works again, no problems.

Car looks pretty good, parts are pretty reasonable, just keep fixing it up in your spare time within reason and you'll have a reliable ride for years to come.
