Default Ls400 excessive fuel smell

I have a 1996 LS400. The last 2 days on startup i am getting excessive fuel smell at the exhaust plus a lite miss fire until the temperature on the engine is picking up. Could anyone give me an indication where to look. Does it have an OBD11 connection?

When i got her, i have done full service plus plugwires and rotors aswell as cambelt replacement.

I would reccomend posting this in the LS400 forum, you will get a more directed response there

Could be a coil, make sure you are getting spark on all of your cylinders. With that said, it could be a lot of things.

Your 1996 should have an OBD-2 port. Do you have any check engine lights / dash lights on? If so, plug in a cheap code reader and fetch the codes to get an idea of what's going on. You can also go to a nearby auto parts store, like Advance, AutoZone, or O'Reilly's to have them check for free.

I wonder if you might have any O2 or catalyst related codes..

Like CLLEXUSS said, it could be several issues causing the gas smell, but it's nearly impossible to tell from here without some diagnosis first. Is this a high mileage vehicle?

Does your oil smell of gas when you remove the oil cap (should be very obvious if you smell the underside of the cap)?
