Default 1999 LS power steering noise, fluid not low

ok i did attempt a search (maybe not well enough) but couldn't really find anything that matched specifically... it's more noticeable the quicker you are cornering, there's like a hissing, ssshhh type noise... i haven't spotted any leaks and the fluid level is high. occasionally (really not very often) when in a parking lot or something the steering will go heavy for a split second and then be perfectly fine again. the steering still feels super light and there's no loss in performance, mpg or anything... is it time for a new PS pump? i don't want to jeopardize my alternator too

also let's just say for instance that an idler pulley bearing was on it's last legs, what sort of noise would that make? i should be clear the noise really isn't that loud, turn the radio on and you won't hear it at all. if you're not listening for it you may not even notice but it's definitely there
