Timing mark help
I am installing a new timing belt as my 93 ls400. It jumped time. the tutorials indicate that the crankshaft belt drive gear has a dot that is at the 6 o'clock position when number 1 cylinder is at top dead center, mine has no "dot" all mine has is a "U" at 12 o'clock and two threaded holes about 10 and 4, I am pretty sure it is at TDC as the rotor is pointing at number one cylinder and the crank pulley timing mark was on zero when i removed the crank pulley. Has anyone experienced this type of drive gear?

Fitted new timing belt and cam/crank seals on a sc400 1uzfe same as LS400. Won't start and distributor rotor pointing down at tdc or at 12 at tdc not sure which is compression stroke at the moment.
Pictures anyone?
Thanks.

Look over my timing belt tutorial and see if it helps. Remove your crank sprocket and clean thoroughly with a tooth brush on the front face. The mark is small and get's filled with crud over time. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...-belt-diy.html

Managed to start the car but it won't idle so I'm guessing I got the cams in the right spot!
Will check out your link.
re links to photos I use https://imgur.com/ and they haven't started charging etc (yet) but I believe you can also attach directly to Club Lexus which is where I thought these photo are stored given there was no picture holder in the post.
