Default Can the camshaft position sensor be affected/damaged when working on the radiator?

I am in the process of purchasing a vehicle from someone (94' LS400) and got a pre purchase inspection on the car yesterday. The check engine light came on during the inspection and a P0013 code came on. The mechanic that did the inspection said it could be either the camshaft or crankshaft sensor but they don't know without getting into the front of the engine.

The guy I am buying it from said he would go get it fixed and I had a hard time believing he would pay that much for a problem on the car he is about to sell, so I asked him to send me a picture of the service record after it is completed. He sent me the picture today and it said that the camshaft position sensor was fixed. I asked him how they knew it was the sensor and he said that when he had the radiator worked on, the sensor was damaged or something and because of that they didnt charge him labor to fix the camshaft sensor.

I dont want to find out that they replaced the sensor to show that they fixed something when really there is a problem with the camshaft or crankshaft.

Also, when I type in the p0013 code, stuff about the crankshaft comes up, not the camshaft.

Any insight would be great!

Working on the radiator does not affect the crank or cam position sensors.

no, you are right, but you are in the same area,, depending on what you actually were working on and ANYONE could accidentally bump the sensor or the wire that connects to it, SO I say YES it could very well have happened.. OP you need to see where the sensor is and you would understand.

the car is a 94 so it wouldn't have VVTi
the CAMshaft position sensors are internal so they could NOT have been damaged due to the radiator change.

the CRANKshaft position sensor is easily accessed from the bottom of the engine looking up but again could NOT have been damaged due to the radiator change (unless someone was completely careless).

if you have doubts about the car being fixed, walk away! i'd rather have peace of mind and spend a bit more, than have a lingering doubt about a fix that might not have been actually fixed!

Any wires leading to a what ever sensor can be disturbed and or damaged, it doesn't have to be the sensor it self.

I am well aware it is not vvti, I only posted the diagram to show the location of the CRANKshaft position sensor... and to show how it would be easy to disturb it while working on the radiator NO tech advice intended since most of us are DIY's
