Nakamichi audio no treble nor bass??!!
On my 100% stock 93 LS400 with Nakamichi stereo, the sound has absolutely no treble nor bass, I have to turn the treble and bass all the way up for decent sound. Anyone of you have fixed this issue before? Any idea what is the issue? Is it head unit or speakers? If it is speakers, why is both treble and bass lacking? If it is head unit, why is the frequency response no longer linear?
Thanks in advance for your response!

Check to see if the rear deck mounted sub cone is torn. Mine was so I bought one off Ebay....world of difference.

checked the rear deck, the sub seems to be working, I can hear low frequency thump from the subwoofer, but it is not strong, hence the bass is not loud. Found out that my driver side tweeter blew up and that accounts for the no treble issue, bought a replacement off eBay and hope to fix this issue.
What sub did you change to and how difficult is it to replace?

For the bass, the sub level is adjusted by the bass **** on the radio. Does the bass level change when you play with that ****?
Also check the sub as mentioned by Dubbayoo, it's really easy to check and replace.

Yes, when I turn the bass ****, the bass improves substantially. However when I leave it at flat/center point, the bass is really weak. Music sounds normal only with bass turns to the 4-5 o'clock position (almost at max).
The sub seems to be working but has weak output, is there anywhere else I could turn JUST the sub output to compensate for the weak bass?
