Default Help Check VSC

Hey guys I am a bit new to the forums/ Owning A lexus and I have a bit of a problem thought this would be first stop.

Last night I was on the way home from a buddy of mines house and I went to take a short cut through a neighbor hood and noticed that it had not been plowed, so as I was turning around My check Engine light and "Check VSC" light came on. I've had a few people tell me to take it to my local advanced auto and get them to check it with the computer (which I am on my lunch at work) Friend of mine told me it is probably just the sensor acting up. But on my drive to work this morning I noticed a few things that were different. My exhaust (Straight piped) Is a whole lot deeper while idling than it usually is. Also when im sitting at a stop light/ stop sign and idling while in drive it seems like the whole car is just shaking like its about to take off. Anyone got any suggestions on what could be causing this problem?

Thanks
-John

When you get the code it's going to be multiple misfires or an OCV ( Oil Control Valve) issue. Get the code and we can go from there.

There are several different components that can contribute to the CE and VSC light. Like you guys have already mentioned, get the codes checked and see what it reads. I just had the same issues with my '99, and i'm still not EXACTLY sure what it was. My codes read misfires on the cylinders 1,3,5, and 7. I changed the plugs and changed the fuel i put in the car. This happened about 3 weeks ago and the car has been running as it should. Let us know what you come up with.

Do you know when the spark plugs were last replaced? If not, I would start there seeing as how it's a fairly easy job. Someone else may chime in with some more tips.

Unfortunately I do not, I bought the car in late July of last year, I ran by my mechanics shop to explain and get his opinion on it, that was his first suggestion, Next was the wires. I also had a friend of mine mention that when I got my exhaust done about two weeks ago they could have messed up the 02 sensor.

Update on everything, I dropped it off at my mechanic to do the work and the investigating for me (I work two jobs so I never have the time). He cleaned the VVT valve and it ran amazing for about 20 miles until the same problem came up, Misfiring, Check vsc Light the lot. I ordered a new VVT valve, Spark plugs, spark Plug tubes, Valve gaskets. Gonna get them replaced tomorrow and hopefully that will fix the problem.
