Default buying a new lexus LS 430

Sup guys....

My mom has been shopping for a new car and the ls430 is one of the cars on the list.
Now, seeing that this will be her 3rd lexus (ls400 and sc400), but the 1st one in a long time, i was wondering what kinda discounts we can get from the dealer (LONGO LEXUS in El Monte). We all know Lexus cars are relatively inexpensive luxury cars (as compared to Benz and NMW), but the options for this car seem a lil on the high side. Can anyone tell me how to go about this? What's a good price for So Cali (LA)? What option package to get we just want leather/sunroof/xenon lights/cd changer??

Is Lexus flexible in terms of discounts? Mercedes was willing to give us the S430 at $1,000 above invoice and teh E500 at invoice, cuz Mercedes has some rebate program for their dealers, so the dealers dont necesarily have to mark up on the car itself.

ANy feedback is appreciated.

Tks

All dealers get a lot fee and an advertising fee for all of their cars. Thus, if they sell at invoice they're still making money off of those manufacturer deals. On your average Toyota there's $2,000 in those fees, thus at invoice the dealer is still making good money.

It all depends on demand.

I bought my 03 LS430 in December for about $500 over invoice. At first my local dealer was stuck on full List, so I checked with several So. Cal. dealers and they would do around the $500 over. I was ready to have the car shipped from Cal. but gave my Local dealer the option of matching the deal. They then Saw the Lite and did the deal.

Excellent Frank!

Also, forgot to mention, I have owned just about everything except MB. I cannot see myself buying any other kind of car. Not only is the LS the nicest and most comfortable, but also the service is unbelievable. Traffic is not even an issue any more. Just click on one of the John Coltrane CD's and I can sit for hours. Now, if I could just have a glass of Macallan while in the traffic

Wow! That's incredible. You got that car for more than $5k under wholesale value! And a Lexus dealer sold it to you for that price? I'd be awfully leary about the condition of the car, ie flood or major accident. In the Chicago area, the best price I could negotiate on a new Ultra Lux LS430 was $3k over invoice. I don't know how you guys can get those dealers to go down to invoice or $500 over. Maybe the lux car market is extremely "soft" where you live. I wish I would have known that before buying in the Chicago area. It would have been worth traveling a long distance to get extreme discounts. I purchased my certified 01 LS430 with 20k miles in January for $48200. I know I got a very good deal, $580 less than what the dealer paid for it. (My boss' uncle is a used car dealer and checked the auction sale price on my car). I got $23k in trade on my 99 GS400 with 50k miles.( my boss' uncle said my model was bringing $17-22k at the auctions). It sounds like I could have picked it up in other markets for about $5k less than what I paid, according to your numbers.

I Paid $52995 for my 03 LS430, with Chrome Rims, and Gold Package. It is a base 430 with sunroof, climate control seats, White with Ecru. Plus my local dealer sent a truck from Mpls to Cleveland to pick it up. They had a sales quota they were trying to make by Dec. 31, and they were "motivated". (So buy in Dec.)

The absolute best "Price" was from Lexus of Glendale, CA at $52535. But it did not make sence to go to CA and pick it up for the $460 difference. However, if the local dealer hadn't ponied up in the end I would have had it shipped, or just driven it home, and enjoyed it all the way.

Appeared that mine had been sitting on the showroom floor for a bit, and I did buy on December 19, 2002.

Hi all -
New to the forum.
This is my second Lexus (first being a 1990 LS400 so that ought to tell you how well they hold up)

Got my new LS at Keyes Lexus in Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys. Got mine for dealer cost, which is well below invoice, but that's because I'm lucky enough to have a good friend who is a manager there.

The friend who sold me mine is an alright guy. You should give him a call. His name is Joseph Trotochou.

I got the LS430, Millenium Silver, with the Navigation/Mark Levinson audio package. It retails for about 63. According to Edmunds the TMV is around 58500, so you should be able to swing that kind of deal. I find Edmunds to be a good source. (I got mine for less, but there is no way anyone would get the deal I got.)

Good luck and enjoy it!

I love mine!

k
