Some questions about struts and lowering springs
I'm sorry if this question has been answered already, couldn't find anything using search.
I currently have a 1996 LS400, she currently has 225k miles on the clock. From maintenance paperwork, I figured out that the front two struts were replaced at 170k miles back in 2011.
Will I be able to pull off lowering springs on the front struts without them blowing on me after X many miles/months? I'm planning to use Tanabe DF210 springs so the front will be a 1.8" drop.
Couldn't find any information on rear struts and when/if they've been changed so I'll swap those out when I go to put in the new springs.
Thanks!

Id suggest getting new struts, something wih more aggressive valving to handle the drop. You could run the springs on stock struts but you run the risk of them lasting 2 months or a year and won't know till down the road...

I plan on dropping all four corners.
I'll swap out the rear struts for certain since I can't find any paperwork stating they've been changed in the long history of the vehicle.
And thanks for clarifying, guys. I was just curious since the front struts seemed to be fairly new even though they have a decent bit of mileage on them. It seems like a waste to swap out the fronts if they still have plenty of life in them. Not sure of the make/model of the front..but from the looks of it, they're just direct OEM replacements from Lexus.

If you are going thru the trouble for new springs, I would swap all 4 shocks just to be safe. Also, I would not use stock shocks with aftermarket shocks. Look in the suspension thread for more info on what shocks can be used. It may cost you more in the long run if not done at the same time.

Thank you for the insight I'll swap out all 4 corners along with the springs in that case. Most likely purchasing KYB GR-2s for all four corners (only read good things about them on the DF210 thread).

You are right KYB and DF210s are closest to stock ride but drop is a lot from what I read. Unless you have crappy roads, you will be happy

The roads here in the ATL area could be better, but definitely not the worst. I just ordered GR-2s and the DF210 springs last night, I'm super excited.
Thanks again for the information guys!
