Default check engine light

Hi,
Every time lately I get gas my check engine light goes on??? It goes off eventually, but would like to have an idea why this is happening??

I have a 1998 LS400 if this helps.

Thanks!!

I would read the code first. It's an important first step.

get the codes read. even if it goes away, it's still stored in the memory, sometimes under a "pending" code.

What is the exact number of the code? Running lean is too broad.
