Hi Lexus members,

Please help! 94 Lexus LS400 with slightly rough idle and when I press the gas pedal, feels rough and slight hesitation through around 1500 rpm. From a dead stop, take my feet off the brake, car would roll with slight hesitation and you could feel it and once I give gas and it will go away and always with a slight hesitation each time. I could drive it without issue and no loss of power once the car gets moving and rpm does go over 2000rpm and no check engine light. took the car up to 90 mph without loss of power and still responsive.

When the car is in park and let it idle. I put my hand in front of the exhaust pipe, I could feel and hear the engine / exhaust note. (pup, pup, pup, pup, pup) it is like an American V-8 with a aftermarket CAM but not too aggressive and the exhaust smells like rotten eggs. It wasn't like this last week.

Things I have done so far:

* put in new 1/2 tank of 93 octane gas and added fuel injector cleaner.
* reset ECU---disconnect battery, negative terminal for 1 hour and reconnect.

I wanted to post this to see what you guys think and what should I try before I take it to the shop, It was running fine up until last week and this is my weekend car so I rarely put any miles on this car. 1000 to 1500 miles a year. Car currently has 75000 miles.

Check the vacuum lines. My 96 had about 3 gone hard and brittle.

What is the gas mileage like? Car needs to be driven. At 1-1.5K year that gas is sitting in the tank for a pretty long spell. The rest I suspect is typical maintenance for a car this age. A bit early to say though just to keep in mind: Vacuum lines, ECT and possibly O2 sensors.

Make sure to drive the car to get that "cleaner" run through the tank and a fresh tank of gas in before the car sits again.
