Question Trunk CD changer cuts out after several minutes?

Hi All,

I have a new (to me) '93 LS400 with Nakamichi stereo and in-trunk 6 CD changer. It usually works after first starting the car but cuts out after a moment (volume drops almost to nothing as if amplifier cuts out.) All other functions of the stereo work normally (tape, radio etc.)

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Remove the trunk trim around the changer then check for water in the well underneath and give all the connector plugs a good shake to see if there is an intermittent connection,

Thanks for the reply. The connections are all solid and everything is dry.

New discovery: I sat in the car listening to a CD and as soon as I turned on the AC on, the CD cut out.

Maybe this is the famous trunk wiring problem.

The trunk hinge wires all are OK. Is there another famous trouble area?

Well move the passenger seat all the way to the front and remove the air vent underneath and it should expose the amp. Check those connections. There is some debate if the amp is under the seat or in back of the cd changer.
