Like bringing the Crown over. I don't mind the Celsior, I just preferred the styling of the Crown. Even today I'd pick a Crown variant over an LS.

well I like what we have and think they done a good job, but remembering the old Ford starter relays/solenoids mounted on the inner skirt sure made sense to me....

i recently read that the crown is nearest the GS platform not the LS. i'm with you though on the crowns! and how about a century?! yes!

biggest peeve about this car is the gas tank location, difficult access to the rear top strut mounts, and windshield wiper accessibility. overall my quips are minute compared to the other major bits of the car which are fan-friggin-tastic!

- I'd have a larger moonroof, like the mercs or the panoramic ones in the es
- I'd love to see an extended body version
- how about modular components (i.e. swappable ac controls and radio, swappable ash tray with XYZ, and so on...like a PC case).
- thinner metal in the rear windshield's glass (for the heat and radio), it makes tinting look worse than thinner metal

True, I share your thoughts. The gas tank position dictated work-around's for the other components. I felt this wasn't very good to have to access the fuel pump and suspension by going inside the car and yanking the interior. Typical mechanics don't have clean hands so minimizing interior handling keeps it clean. Otherwise, I remain very pleased with the LS 400.

Its true in comparison to some other cars design elements, its really not That bad.
I appreciate how easy the steering rack is too remove for example.

Lots of starter stuff like BillyD said were put in terrible places that were just waiting to fail, Ford F150 starter is right under the exhaust manifold, that can't be good for the starter!

ECU caps seems obvious too, my 3000GT ones melted and left me stranded 1000km from home, Supras have the problem too.

-different size wheel options
-the mode button on the steering wheel should be a switch that goes up and down instead of the current set up so you don't have to scroll through every menu to get to the previous one
-it'd be cool if all of the rear seats were like the ones in the celsior "c" trim with volume control
-opposite the function, mode ,reset buttons should be volume up, mute, volume down (can't be too hard and would add some much needed symmetry to the wheel
-if the same results could be achieved i'd rather the transmission have a normal gasket instead of an FIPG
-some form of manual mode would be nice but i suppose it doesn't really fit the LS character, and also being able to shift into 1st when going more than 11 mph or whatever the number is

I would extend engine control unit's diagnostic data stream with the following
- knocking amount
- vvti desired advance
- vvti actual advance
- transmission slippage DTC

that would make servicing the out of warranty cars much easier. Though apparently no car's designed for second hand users.

something else i've been meaning to add to this, make it so that when the indicator stalk is given a single light tap up to the point of resistance the indicator signals 3 times

Auxiliary Jack input on radio

A cess to all c10 options via mpg computer screen like GM does instead of needing to go to dealer. Things like pwr t and t exit mode, door locks when shifting, ect..

I agree with the gas tank location deal, just not good having it inside the car. And how long have they done that? The other bad thing is the lower ball joint in Gen 1 bad design, I though they wanted to make a perfect car.

I'm not sure i think the gas tank being inside the car is such a bad thing in my opinion.. Yes, it eats alot of your trunk space, but I was almost jumping for joy when i saw how comparatively easy it is to change out an LS400 fuel pump..

On my 2004 GX470, it still requires you to drop the gas tank from under the car to get to it.. you woulda' thunk that by 2004, Lexus would have a freaking access panel inside the vehicle to get to it.... Hell, even my Corolla has one, i can get to the fuel pump in about 10 minutes in that thing!

I know car manufacturers still say "fuel pumps are not a regularly scheduled item for replacement" but when they do go, it always ends up being in the dead of winter, with snow and ice everywhere.

the tank isn't inside the car. There's basically a firewall between the cabin and the tank...

I would like a heat massaging lumbar with dynamic seat bolsters that contract 10seconds before you even think about driving briskly.

A HUD display showing speed, rpm, G-data, fuel, trip and what setting the seat heater is at.

And all the technology that has been released in the last couple years, 20 years ago!
