Brake pad wear light questions
Hey all, I know that the search function could probably answer this, but using search on my phone is really frustrating.
So my light has been going on and off for about two weeks so I just thought it was malfunctioning. After it came on and stayed on for 4 days I figured it's worth a look. My brakes weren't horrible, I could have probably gone another few months on them, but I decided if the light said they needed it, what the heck it's a cheap repair.
On to the question, I didn't feel like paying more for a single sensor than for the the pads alone. Let alone if there were two up front that needed replacing.
Is there a sensor on all four wheels or just one side of the front and back?
And is there a fairly simple way to get the light on the dash off without replacing the sensor?

yes this has been covered but since you are frustrated i will answer now.
sensors are only on the passenger side, front and back. if you don't want to replace the sensor, you will need to short the two wires together. of course this disables the feature completely but you will not have the dash light come on.
what happens is that the tip of the sensor scrapes against the rotor when the pad is low, opening the circuit. shorting them together will close the circuit and restore no more dash lights. i want to see if someone could possibly solder the tip back on so when the rotor comes in contact next time, it will scrape the solder off and indicate a low pad again. this has not been proven yet however.
