absolutely i would recommend the LS as a daily driver. yeah it takes premium fuel but with a conservative foot, you can do upwards of 25mpg. the power is smooooooth and ample. it's a joy to drive, comfortable, and easy to maintain. i know i'm biased but take a test drive and see for yourself.

I actually managed to hit 26mpg doing 55-65 on a rural road in my '99 LS. From my understanding, the LS would make a great daily driver (I'm biased, because it's my first car). The V8 can virtually last forever, though on 98-00, it is CRUCIAL that you change your timing belt every 90k miles, because if that belt snaps, then your motor basically dies.

Since my thread is related to buying, maybe i can also get some feedback on a somewhat related question:

==================

Anyone here have experience buying / registering a car in TX?

The reason I ask is because in CA (where i used to live), used car buyers are likely to purchase from a private party (instead of used car lots / dealerships) because both parties can agree to lower the value of the sale, thus resulting in lower DMV fees.

In TX, there is no way around it, whether the vehicle is purchased from either a private party or dealer, because the DMV determines the fees based on a presumptive value. Since there is basically no difference in benefit between which party to buy, would it be advisable to buy from a used car lot?

The reason I ask is because used car lots (not all) typically are not known for having a good reputation (based on my experience in CA), and I was wondering if it's the same case with Dallas, TX dealerships. My vehicle choice (LS) is hardly available through private parties and plenty of used car lots have it in their inventory. Would you recommend buying form a dealership over a private party, in Dallas?
