Default LS400 wont drive?

Ok so im looking at picking up this ls400 the owner says the car can roll in neutral but it will not move if he puts it in drive. sounds like a transmission issue to me but the guy says he had the tranny checked and also said he heard noises from the rear end before it happened? any thoughts? not too sure why it wouldnt drive but it will roll.

I would look for another ls. No need to buy someone else's problems.

Getting junk yard parts is relatively easy depending where you are. OTOH, price is a big factor and if you need a driver ready to go, this may not be one to consider. A gamble and there are likely other areas of the car that need fixing

How did he have the tranny checked? What year is the car? Will the car move in any other gears?

Could be lack of driveshaft propelling it to the front, tranny low on fluid would make it not move forward but he had it checked out, sounds like its probably something pretty obvious, I'd go check it out in person to figure out what you're in store for here, might not be hard to fix at all depending on your skill with the wrench.
