Default Wood Dash Trim Kit?

How about the Wood Dash Trim Kit you see on sale on the internet? It is anywhere from 16-20 pieces and stick over the original black plate. Anybody ever used these? Do they look good or is just a bunch of crap? I want to try it because they look good in the pictures but it is a irreversible process. Once they stick on they don't come off?

If anyone has had any sucess or failure I would like to here about it before I mess something up.

thanks

Thumbs down

Wood Grain kits are not such a hot idea. I installed one in my first Lexus (a '90). Despite doing this in the heat of an AZ summer, which should have been benificial, I still had problems with the fit on the smaller buttons. Also, you lose the print on the radio controls and other that I can't remember. Trying to trim the grain with a razor knife just mucks it up further. From five feet off it all looks great, but you really wind up dissatified.
Good Luck!

A good friend of mine bought a piece of wood exoticwood.com and told me that the colour match was not exact also. Thank You for the input on covering up the letters and symbols on the dash something I wondered about.

The SC400/300 forum has a good discussion going right now about this very subject, with several photos posted.

Beware: exoticwooddash.com will charge a 25% "restocking fee" if you buy from them and then change your mind.

I just installed a wood trim kit in my 98 LS400 and it looks pretty good. The only problem was that while heating the pieces with the heating gun, I also heated the radio and I actually broke it. It is stuck on one station and it turns on and off but I can not play cds or change stations. DONT HEEAT THE RADIO EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone knows how to fix this pleeeeeeease let me know, im dying here. THank you!
