Alryt brother....

I got this motor for $20 from the junkyard... It works quite well when i jacked up the wire with the connection.. I will be replacing this motor... I ran into a problem, I have unhook all the screws except the two screws at the inside as it lies just with the steering column as shown in the picture(red marks)... the first one is the round-head screw, i have applied pretty much force to unscrew it, but it is not getting unscrew, the sceond one is not getting uunscrew as the wrench is not reaching there..

any way to open them???

I'll try your fix first but I'd like to know how long your fix worked, or if it is still working.
Thanks again.

It's been 4 years since lexmoose last posted anything on the forum. Hopefully, someone else that's done the fix will post.

Most likely your mechanic was right. If you think about it, those motors are working twice every time you turn on your engine. After 20 years of driving, that's a lot of movement. Mine were both bad on my 1996 ls400 when I bought it in 2015. I ended up scavenging motors from a pick/pull place I go to. I had to go through several, cars to find a good one though. But, they aren't that expensive that way. Kind of a pain to change out being on your back crammed into the footwell. As these motors age, they work great in cold weather and slowly get worse as the temperature rises. If you leave your car outside in the summer and the temperature gets very high, the motors on a marginal motor will shutdown.
