understood, of course most aftermarket parts, not just lights, are not manufactured in the same light as OEM. my tails do fit fairly well despite being aftermarket though does not equal the quality of OEM. it's just for style.

here are the central pine clear tails installed on deni's car from germany.

I saw those yesterday on FB. He needs to do what you did and put the black pinstriping on them. Even smoked they look too monotonous. Or even chrome pinstriping to match his badges.

I got a set of LED tails from Options Auto and the inners don't really fit well, the bottom portion sticks out about 1/4" or more, almost like they weren't pushed in all the way when they built them but they work and look pretty nice

yeeee-uck!!

@timmy, have you never seen the pickup and SUV lights with the chrome tail covers? They're literally everywhere here in NY. I would have to assume its everywhere else too. I was thinking something like that. Maybe you're looking to do something a bit more... umm ostentatious.

not going for ostentatious and yes i have seen those chrome covers. it will not be like that as my chrome strips are only 1/4" thick. it's just an experiment to see how it will look. if too gaudy they can always be removed.

trying to see if we can get (or make) a clear 3rd brake light as well!

best bet would be to modify some clear bumper lenses from another car.. Like the is-f or countless others. That would probably be the cheapest route. I've never seen that on a ls400 or rear bumper lights above the mufflers for that matter.

Hmmm, this is starting to give me ideas too.
