Question are 18" LS 430 wheels/tires on a LS 400 a bad idea?

There's a LS 400 for sale on CL that has 18" wheels & tires from a LS 430.

Is this a bad idea? I understand the wheels will fit but wouldn't it need different tires to maintain the stock diameter so the wheel speed sensor & abs sensors are accurate and work right?

what do you guys think?

They are a good choice and will look good. They work out the box and no need to change the tires which should be 245/45/18.

Interesting.

I would have thought since the 430 was a bigger car it would have bigger wheels & tires. So they're the same diameter as the stock LS 400 wheels?

edit: Just looked up all the info on tirerack and you're right they're very close. the 430 set would have about a .1" taller diameter but that's negligible.

OE 99 LS 400 = 225/60R16.
8.85827" tread width.
135mm = 5.31496" sidewall height.
16 + 10.6 = 26.6" diameter

OE tires on 2005 LS 430 18 x 7.5" wheel = P245/45R18
245mm = 9.64567 inches 4.34055 sidewall height
26.68" diameter

thanks

LS430s ran the functionally same tire size a '93+ LS400s. 226/60-16 or equivalent. '01-03 (or 04) LS430s shipped with the same size.

They're basically the same wheel as far as diameter goes. Unless the wheel itself is heavy, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

I love mine. only thing I needed was new set of lug w shorter shank, as the ones from my 16s bottomed out before shouldering up to the wheel.
