Default differential/transmission

I have a 90 LS ....So, i blew my diff ..my car wasnt going anywhere. Swapped in another one I had picked from a junkyard (92 LS) when I put in Drive it doesn't move ..but when I put in Low (first) it moves ...I have to take off in first then move to drive ...tranny problem ?....help

check fluid level and all wiring.

fluid level in the trans. how do you know you didn't blow your transmission too?

Well It works ..I just have to drop in first manually or it won't go ..then I drive off then put it in drive

My dad had a Jeep Cherokee as his take home car about 10 years ago, and it did the exact same thing once.... would not respond if you put it in drive, but if you started from "L", got some speed, and then switched it to drive, it would work fine.... I know those have an Aisin Transmission too, and if i remember, it was a relatively simple fix...
