Default New Set of Tires Recommendation Please

I have a 1998 LS400 which is in need of a new set of tires.

What is the best / most affordable type and brand to get? I have no clue about best brands nor how much I should expect to pay. I don't have a lot of money and can't stand being taken advantage of.

Should I get H or V rated tires? I don't see myself going over 110 mph ever under any circumstance.

I see you are looking for a budget tire. While Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Continental would offer the best ride/performance, you get what you pay for.

Continental DSW is a good all season tire
If you go on tirerack, you can check out the Kumho tires.

Remember, All season = Comfort . Summer = hard noisy ride after some thousand miles.

Tires are the most important part of your car, you should be concentrating on getting a quality tire rather than a good deal.

Like stated above, Michelin, Continental, Dunlop, Pirelli are all good brands.

I love Michelins, but I have a set of Kumhos on a BMW and they are very good tires in my estimation.
Traction and temperature are both A, but I don't expect to get 50-60,000+ miles from them.
I thiink with tires its a matter of pay me now or pay me later: Better tires wear longer,
if you look at it on a $ per mile basis, they're not *more* expensive, they're cheaper.
But for Michelin expect to pay $120-$160/tire, for Kumhos, probably $70-$90 each.
.
Get pricing at tire rack and see if you can get local dealer to match price, even if a little higher,
buying from local guy is better - if the tire gives you problems, or you need flat fixed, balancing, rotation.

These are my recommendation. Ive had them on my stock rims for the past 4 years. A lil noisy but great handling and long lasting.

It is not all about speed. Many factors to consider when buying a tire for your car and the intended type of driving. What works well for one may not for another and so it depends what you want-need in tires for your car.

I've fitted a set of Uniroyals on my '93 and I'm pleased with them. Quiet, lots of grip and a good ride.

agreed! get michelin or bridgestone, basically the tires costco carries which is a great deal for what you get (lifetime balance, nitrogen fill, etc). this is not your cheapest option but as stated, don't cheap out on tires!

Been very happy with the Yokohama AVID Touring S I bought a few years ago. I only run them in the winter, but at the time I paid less than $400 for the set.

Default Michelin MXV4

Tires are one thing you can't compromise with. Look for most grip and best handling and stopping power in wet and dry, and Michelin always wins in those.
