Default 96 to 98 front bumper

like the title says, i want to put a 98 front bumper on my 96 (not full conversion)
i remember seeing a gold 96ish with this done but cant seem to find it anymore
i did search for info already but it came up with full conversion only
i simply just want the front bumper, i will move signals up to the corner lights and when i can find some 98 fog lights then i will just make a seperate switch for that

looks to me like i can just put the bumper on and trim a little where the 98 headlight outer corner curves up since the 96 is straight across but thats just me thinking

** thoughts **

I was planning on doing this as well. I would merge the two together at the chrome strip split, allowing you to retain the top portion of the 95-97 and bottom portion of the 98-00.
As far as the merge, I would use a similar approach as Romeo did on his LS430 lower conversion. I don't think it would be as difficult as Romeo's conversion as the two front bumper covers share the same dimensions (minus the headlight and front grille area).
I say go for it, and post your results/write up here, or wait for mine

I am leaning more towards the later model LS430 front bumper cover though. It was well executed on Romeo's car and I think it would look equally as impressive on the 95-97 front. I however, prefer the looks of the 95-97 headlights as oppose to the 98-00.
If I owned a 98-00 I would "reverse convert" to the 95-97.............to each his own.

That actually looks pretty good. If my car wasn't such a POS and I wanted to invest money in parts i couldn't take with me, i'd probably buy a spare 96 and 98 front in order to mould them together, Might stagger cut them to double the distance from the chrome lip to the top of the lower grill and then maybe grab a pair of 96 rears to do the same, sort of like what Elvis did....

A good shop or experienced person could do the same with the 98+ and eliminate cutting/merging them. I didn't get that chance back in '07 to do the swap when I had the bumper incident.

I was actually contemplating this as well. I've seen some done and it looks good. I love the look of the OEM front and rear bumper covers, just wish they were a little longer/lengthier to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
I think a front lip really completes the look of the 98-00 front bumper cover, but would definitely lengthen the rear bumper a couple inches.

I'd like to see it.

Shaving and doing major work to the bumpers is nothing new to my previous cars... Sometimes I wish I picked up a cleaner bodied LS that i actually might care about doing body work... then i think about my previous bills for custom work at the body shop and am happy I didn't!
