Kind of what I was thinking. Just address the parts relating to the codes first.

I already pointed this out in the other thread of his titled ripple test questions..so here is the deal, u have a speed sensor code and a crank sensor code..test or replace both parts or at least one of them, reset the the ecu and be done with it. if the code(s) goes away or not u have ur answer

If you have a problem with crank sensor, before you buy new one, check wires. Wires are old, fragile, and pins inside the plugs looks like shi.... You can connect new wires directly from sensor to ECU, just for tests. You will see what happens.

Went out to try and start it today and won't start... Has anyone ever replaced a crank sensor in one of these?

Remove the lower engine cover. The sensor is on the drivers side behind the crank pully. If I remember correctly its only held in with one bolt. While your down there take a look at the harness that leads to it. The plastic clips that tie it down get brittle with age. If they break they can cause the wires to rub on the serpintine belt.

Replaced the crank sensor, which made it seen to run even a little better then before but still having the same symptoms.. Been trying to put miles on it too for the new caps but still no change yet...

Check the coolant temp sensor. Top of the motor,on the passenger side. It will have two wires coming out of the plug.
This sensor tells the ecu the temprature of the engine. If its bad it could cause some of these issues.

hey man take it easy, its a great car and easy to fix once you find the issue

forget the ecu for now and start by checking the basics

cuz at the end it's may be just a matter of a major service to fix it

so i've read the full thread so hopefully i can be helpful to you

1- From switching from reverse to drive the car jumps
every 95LS400 in saw in bahrain with this issue it's always the U joint

2-Brake pad light in on
pads are out or maybe just the sensor

3-The trac Light is blinking
dont have traction control in GCC models but i think it could be just a sensor

the acceleration as i said could be just a matter of a good major service
but my first guess is the plugs and air filter

BTW did you fix the engine light bulb yet?

If the coolant temp sensor was bad it wouldn't the code come up for it? I'll check it out though, thanks.

I already replaced the ecu caps and crank sensor.. Seems to be running better then before but having the same symptoms just not as bad it seems like.. Not sure if it just needs to still be worked in or what. But I believe the trac light & ect light(sometimes) is blinking because of the bad input turbine speed sensor. Plugs & Air Filter are good.

While the ECU for the Generation 2s (95-97) almost universally need capacitors replaced, they are too often the first go to for most problems on this forum. I feel pretty confident that your issue is not primarily the ECU (although fixing the capacitors is a solid/smart thing to do).

I would replace both coils in the car. While I would only use Denso's in my car, they are about 3x more than a Standard or Beck Arney that you can get for under $40 each at rockauto. Your symptoms sound like coils for sure.

Additionally, I agree on replacing the coolant temp sensor (probably a green plug in front of intake) and while you might want to test the MAF... DO NOT try to clean it as you can easily damage it (and they are not cheap).

Best of luck.

So I replaced the crankshaft sensor but the check engine light keeps coming on for it.. I looked at the wires when i did it and they seemed to be fine.. I guess I'm going to have to go back and double check all the wires to it ??

I wonder if that harmonic balancer was put back on correctly when the timing belt was changed.
There have been several post where people have installed the balancer wrong. The pictures show the balancer off by quite a bit. Not sure if this would affect the timing or the tone ring that the crank sensor reads.
The wires on the sensor for the ect looked good. Ok. How about the contacts for the connection? How many miles do you have on the car.

155k miles on the car.. timing chain was done back in 2007.. I don't think someone would drive it this way for 7 years like this.. Well at least i would hope not lol. Plugs looked good I even unplugged them and gave them a extra cleaning just to be sure today..
