Unhappy 1994 Lexus LS400

I went to the dealership yesterday to get an oil change and thought everything was good. As I was driving home I seen a very small amount of smoke coming from under my hood. I pulled over to check it out and realized a steady stream of oil was coming from the engine. I immediately turned my car off because I didn't want it to catch on fire. My phone rang and it was the service manager from the dealership. He ask me where I was at and to not drive the car since there was oil in the shop floor ( A LOT OF IT). His mechanics came to where I was and checked it out. They filled the car back up with oil and I went straight back to the dealership......... Come to find out that when they filled my car up with oil they blew out my Valve Cover Gasket seals. They are going to fix the problem on their account. Is it normal that Valve gasket seals blow out with an oil change? 1994 Lexus LS400 131,900 miles

I have never heard of this... no way changing the oil will blow out the valve cover gaskets... something else must be going on here.

It is not normal but I have experienced the badly leaking engine oil from the valve cover gasket seal. It was not my Celsior but a car owned by an aged woman who haven't changed the engine oil for 18 months. I found this when I changed the oil for her when she was visiting us.

The breath lines for the blow by gas were completely clogged and internal pressure became too high breaking the valve cover gasket seal broken into pieces. As you see attached photos, the engine oil is leaking. The valve cover gasket seal was badly broken.

The problem often happens among cars owned by aged widows here. They often don't care their car well enough.

I don't know your problem is related to what I wrote but you'd better to check breath lines.

Sounds fishy, maybe the tech didn't tighten the oil pan bolt or tighten the filter. You probably already had a slight leak like most of us. Strange coincidence though.
